Bun &
Fox
The most light-hearted of my series, but still capable of being deep, Bun & Fox explores how opposites attract. A little too on the nose with the title, and potentially going to be changed in the future, the story follows two people from different upbringings who eventually fall for each other. A bit of a cliche, but I've always wanted to explore a relationship between an herbivore and a carnivore with human analogies. Originally inspired from a drawing I did for school, the characters are almost nothing like they were before. It was a metaphor for manipulation, but is much more nuanced now.
Demons on Duty
In the beginning, Demons on Duty was based around my friend's OC, V. I wanted to create a bigger world for our two OCs and to give them relationships and lives of their own, thus this series was born. Their world takes place mostly in Hell, but also in Heaven and on Earth. The series now mostly revolves around the daily lives of the social workers and the horrendous encounters they're subjected to.
The characters showcased here are created by me, with the exception of Elliott being a collab. Their jobs are located in the first circle of Hell, helping newly admitted souls find their way through purgatory, and eventually, Hell itself. A special case, a fallen angel-turned-hellhound, lands in Faba's lap, much to her dismay. V is abrasive, overly affectionate, and loves to be social. Faba is a lethargic bundle of nerves after working in purgatory for almost a decade. Time together wears down Faba's skepticism, eventually blooming into a somewhat obsessive friendship.
Remy and Maeve are the receptionists, usually seen bonding over bitter gossip and coffee. Maeve appears disdained with her job, although she secretly enjoys it. Remy is the most satisfied with her job, leeching off the misfortune of every soul she works with. Danton is an unassuming administrative assistant, aside from his floppy haircut. He is hopelessly in love with Faba, sometimes to a fault, and much to the dismay of Maeve and Remy. They would prefer their platonic threesome remain a threesome, being passive-aggressively catty towards not just Danton, but V and other co-workers as well. Carmine is their reclusive boss. He may not show his face often but he does call out from his office every now and then, mostly when he overhears Remy or Maeve taking things too far. Elliott is the only human working in the first circle social service office. He's part-time employed, making a journey from Earth each day, to exorcise souls who are either unwilling to pass on into hell, or those who are "lost". V is infatuated with him, while Elliott is indifferent, if not annoyed by her.
Phantasms
Phantasms is my most personal and intimate series, something I've been building on since 2008. Because I was 13 when I first started to form this concept, it's a bit cringey. It is currently a mess of self-indulgent and self-fulfilling themes, but also explores reasons why we give abusers countless chances. Originally romanticizing the abuse, I've changed the overall theme to be about unhealed trauma and our co-dependence on those who hurt us, and how limerence plays a huge role in some of our lives.
Sophia feels like this is it for her life. Her milestone years have just ended, and the feeling couldn't be more daunting. A life of neglect and verbal abuse accumulated to a NEET lifestyle, making Sophia hole herself up in her room, working on her art and stories. During a chance outing, Sophia encounters a person she recognizes: her OC, Aaron. Completely aware of his toxic personality, she runs from him, only to be knocked unconscious and taken to his home. It's not a normal home, though; it's also a creation from her mind. Filled with impossibly high ceilings that lead to darkness, countless rooms representing various stages of life and trauma, clashing gothic and baroque architecture and decor that seems to loom overhead, and lifeless maids who ensure Sophia doesn't escape.
An analogy for breaking the cycle, Phantasms explores the potential pain and sorrow that we will inevitably experience on our journey to freedom from co-dependence.
Space Bunny
My least developed series. I basically have no idea what these ladies are up to, other than doing stuff in space and on various planets. Are they vigilantes? Spies? Monster-hunters? Yet to be determined! A crew of four intergalactic women, dubbed the Space Bunnies, set out on adventures and probably kick ass. Dusty and Zahra are a couple who balance each other out, with Dusty being high-energy and Zahra being cool and collected. Juniper is single, not looking to mingle, and has a cynical sense of humor. Indigo is a snarky flirt who doesn't want to settle down. Then we have the "villains". Skye and Honey are their nemeses, with Skye being the acting commander and Honey being the tank. Skye's role as "leader" is always brought into question, resulting in poorly-planned, awkward stand-offs. Honey is constantly mistaken for a Honey badger, when she is really a mix between an American and European badger.
